Well, this happened all the time in all the schools I have been in I have never actually had to be evacuated for a fire.
Sitting in my Thursday Art class, a flash and a LONG siren happen. It was a sound I had never heard from this school. Then a robotic voice came across the speaker. It’s the fire alarm. Climbing 3 flights down and out the door, I went. Here is the problem. I am disabled. Didn’t know what I was supposed to do in this school. Yeah, I had drills in school; I am not that old. I am saying this because the ONLY school never had any exercise. So no one directed us to where to go, just saying get out. Then on the walking bridge, some of us went. If the fire came where we were, it would have dropped the bridge down, hurting the ones on the bridge (ME and others) and the others below it. Not to mention the kids below that came out of the bottom floor classes, 3 feet away from the building. The problem, the bottom floor is GLASS; if there was a black flash, those kids would have been seriously hurt.
getting back to class was a hard too. if it wasnt for the supervisor for maintance letting us use the freight elevator i would have to have taken the stairs back and I am alreadying huriting due to my chronic pain.
Enclosing my school needs to do better.
