I sit here at another doctors appointment, early as usual, and I get called in early for my labs. Should have know I would get the newbie. Again I am not knocking the lab tech, I am knocking the hole hospital system. Now I have been stuck many many times before, never have been stuck like that. She hurt me, she hit a nerve I seriously thought I was going to pass out. If I didn’t do any deep breathing I would have ended up on the floor. At least she got the blood.
While I was sitting in the waiting room, one of the nurses that works for my doctor was picking up another patient. She looked at me said “hey Sheri your early”, and I replied “yes I am always early “. Well the labs had already completed their test. Why can’t doctors do that that quick. I already know what my doctor is going to say. Why is your calcium low, why is your potassium low. Well if I can see my primary for refills I wouldn’t be low.
Well I’m not going to lie I love the infusion center of JPS. However even they have their bumps. The nurse got me back into the room fairly quick, but I didn’t see the doctor for at least 45 mins. I understand she has to look at my record and blood work and I’m not faulting her for that.
We had an awesome conversation, not going to lie. I told her about my primary care, and my colonoscopy as well as the biopsy crap that was going in my mind not to mention the dermatologist. She was actually upset. She told me with my condition I need to be check and seen more than once or twice a year and if the doctors can’t handle that they need to transfer me over to someone who can. I even told her that sending messages threw the app doesn’t work because no one returns your messages.
Even she thinks it’s a good idea that I change providers across the board for my health. But here is the thing. I have an oncologist, gynecologist, surgeon, ent, ent surgeon, psychologist, physical therapy, dermatologist, not to mention a primary care doctor (when I can see her).
Stay tune for the next blog in the series.
